Wednesday, Jan. 28th Club

Wednesday, we started club with our usually rule recitation, then moved to the outdoors to begin our work out. We warmed up with line tag and rainbow tag, then did a 20 minute pace run around the track.

The point of the 20 minute work out was to feel out a comfortable pace that you could maintain for 20 minutes. Simple? Not so much. After a few laps, the kids settled into a comfortable conversational pace. At the end of the 20 minutes, most of the kids had completed 2 miles. We will continue doing this 20 minute pace work out to improve our abilities to feel out these longer distances.

Everyone did well this week. Next week, weather permitting, we will begin our Monday work out during lunch recess. I will be taking the kids to the track to run for 20-25 minutes, to supplement our other club work out on Wednesday. Stay tuned!

The kids are very dedicated to running club and the life lessons it provides. Stay tuned to keep up to date on what we are up to, work outs, race results and Miner Road Running news!
